Sarah Vaughter:
As someone with autism, having read all her books on the subject, I consider her the #1 expert on how to understand children with autism and how to improve the lives of especially those children, but as a side effect also the lives of their family and educators, as well as society as a whole. Autism is not just a “handicap”, something that you “have” or “live with”. It’s an extreme personality type that comes with extreme disadvantages in dealing with neurotypical culture, but it usually also comes with extreme talents, talents very useful for that same contemporary NT culture. If we would only allow those children a worthy existence and if we would only allow their talents to come to fruition.
